Thermaltake Bigwater 735 or something else…

I am going to be building a computer with an ASUS Striker Extreme, Q6600, and a 8800 GTS.

I was considering getting a water system, which would be my first. I have read a lot about the pros and cons of kits, and specifically the Thermaltake Bigwater 735.

I would like to have a water system because of the Q6600 being hot by itself, but I also will want to do a little overclocking.

I would like to make this build fit into a Mid-Tower. I was planning on attempting to put the 735 inside a Mid-Tower that looks like it has enough room. I know it will be a squeeze, but I want a small case that is fairly portable, and I don’t want anything attached outside.

For the time being, I don’t plan on having too much inside except a graphics card, so there should be a fair amount of room for the other water system components.

I really only want to cool the CPU, and not the GPU, or the chipsets (the striker seems to have that covered pretty well)

Also the layout of the built in mobo cooling on the Striker has me concerned about buying a big and expensive air cooler that may not fit.

What are your opinions on the 735 for my setup, or can you recommend any other custom water setups for less that $150?

1) Where do you live?


If you can buy custom H20 kit then do so, it's the best way to go (if yoiu can buildf a computer you can fit your own H20 in my opinion)

TT Bigwater... not so good really, TT sound good because of the price and value but! ....

They often have little upgrade value, the pump is probably weak if you decide to add another rad down the line etc

I heard swiftech had a new solution out ... This should be good, one of the guys will surely be able to offer some assistance 😛


If you can get a thermochill rad do so, they are supposed to be very good (but expensive ~$100 for a PA120.2 without fans)!!!

It's around 90 quid ... $200ish

You shoudl be able to get it cheaper in america ... everything seems to be cheap over there 🙁

A good setup will cost you around $300 (that will outperform the TT bigwater kit and shire at the same time 😉 )
