Hello guys
I recently bought a new pc and i'm facing a problem with the case's USB 3.0 ports.
CASE: Thermaltake Chaser MK-I
Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VI Formula
So the problem is this : The case has at the front 2 x USB 3.0 and 2 x USB 2.0 ports
When i connect a memory stick (USB 3) at the USB 3 port everything works fine. But when i connect my 2.5 '' Hard Drive at either one of the USB 3 ports the drive is malfunctioning. Windows (7 Professional) recognizes the hard drive it may work ok for a while but the drive often disappears and windows pops up a message saying the drive needs to be formatted.
Now if i connect the drive to the case's USB 2.0 ports it works without a single problem. I've tested the hard drive on a couple of pc and i'm pretty sure that there's nothing wrong with it. Moreover the hard drive works perfectly if i connect it straight on the motherboard's USB 3.0 ports.
So what do you think? Is this some kind of a power problem caused by drivers? If so why is the drive working when connected straight on the motherboard or at the case's USB 2.0 ports ?
Thanks in advance
