Thermaltake core v1 gpu clearance issues

The core v1 can take cards up to 285mm.
my gpu is 290mm. Will I have to sell my gpu and get a shorter one, or can I somehow make it work?

The end of the card protrudes through the slot in the frame of the case into the space behind the front intake mesh. If you enlarge or relieve the space, it might just work.

Gigabyte windforce r9 270x 2gb

There may be parts of the GPU shroud that could be replaced too, however it is a lot less risky to hack a $40 case.
