Okay, so I installed all my components, attached the leads, and was ready to fire my new $2000 rig up. Only problem, was the power button wasn't doing anything...... No matter, checked my power connections and tried again. Nothing. Unplugged the leads and gave manual power to the pins using a screwdriver, and it starts right up! I have all leads plugged in, however there is a molex connecter that isn't being used. Is it possible that this molex connector needs power? I have a 750 W PSU so it can't be that (and it starts up). Any suggestions?

Make sure that you have connected the PWR connector to the PWR pins and that the writing on the bit is facing the writing on the motherboard. It is easy to mistakenly put the PWR platic bit on to the wrong pins.. The pin header is colour coded to match the connectors, the PWR wires are usually green & white. If not colour coded, the writing neareast to the pin header refers to the pins closest to the writing.

When you press the Power button, don't hold it in, you just press it once. Sometimes a really good rig may take a second or two before it starts up.

Tried that, no go 🙁

I tried switching which leads went were, no luck. I also tried one press and waiting ten seconds, nothing. A longer press and waiting, nothing. I'm wondering if I have a bad switch?

Sometimes the power on button might stick in it's "hole" and not release so it actually is like holding the power button in without letting go so the bios thinks that you are trying to power off (when you hold it in for more than 4 seconds) so make sure the button does spring back and if it is still depressed, then you will need a new button or probably a new case.

Nope, it pops back out just fine......

I don't have positive and negative markers, but I try the PWR SW both ways and nothing happend......

Yet when you jump it with a screwdriver it works? The button is bad. Did you try using the reset button connected directly to the power connector and using the reset button to power it on? (I know I asked this but I wanted to be more specific)

"The molex cable needs power"? A spare cable from the PSU doesn't need a connection with anything, there usually are quite a few cables left unused with most power supply units but better to move it away from the motherboard if possible.

You might need to take a photo of the gizzards to your PC in case you haven't connected all of the connectors properly. Several pics would be good (not too big, though) of the pin setting of the header and one in general layout. Post it here.

Could you add details about all your other hardware, are you using SLI or crossfire, etc.

Basically, you need to disconnect all your drives and devices and just try to power on with only ram and the video card, it might actually be the PSU which is at fault, also, consider just using onboard video out if you still get no power on, without the video card/s fitted..

Yes tried that as well :/

So, what I'll do is start over from scratch and document it for this thread. I'll start with just the MOBO shortly.

Plugged in just the MOBO and PSU, no power through the switch but again if applied with a screwdriver.
