Question Thermaltake V71 case and fan question

There is a fan controller that is built into this case at top front. There are two connectors for fans. One connector has (2) 200mm fans connected (via a splitter) to connector 1 and one 200mm fan connected to connector 2". I want to add another 200mm fan (via a splitter) to connector 2. Same make /model as other three. However there is a statement in manual "Fan speed and light controller are only compatible with built in 200mm LED fans. To avoid on damaging the circuit board, please do not connect it with other fans." Does this mean I cannot? Has anyone else tried?

Found a support chat with Thermaltake.

They said it might work for a while but would eventually fail as the controller could not handle it.

Thank you to everyone who tried to help.

I bought a fan controller and its power transistor got so hot, the PCB turned dark brown around the legs of transistor.

I fitted a small heatsink to the transistor and now it only gets warm to the touch, instead of burning hot. It can now handle more fans without damage.

If your controller is similar, with "naked" power transistors and no sign of a heatsink, it might not be wise to add a fourth fan, in case the extra current and lack of heatsinking burns out the power semiconductor.

Saving 50 cents or a $1 on a heatsink makes economical sense for the manufacturer, but from an engineering point of view, it sucks.
