ThermoEngine fan placement

I bought a ThermoEngine Pro (with the 7k Delta fan) from 3DCool, and I noticed that the fan blows down TOWARDS the heatsink. This seemed wrong, so I emailed 3DCool, and they said that's the way it's supposed to be. Does anyone else have a ThermoEngine or similar HSF? I can flip the fan over rather easily, but I want to make sure which way it's supposed to be.

Mine blows down, I used to have an alpha fan on my old k6-3 which blew up, I have tried both hsf combos blowing both up and down- k6-3 & alphe- no noticable difference (using extra probe as mobo didnt support monitoring), thermoengine and delta- about 3c HIGHER when sucking, theremoengine with sunon fan taken off alpha heatsink as delta did my head in, no noticable difference sucking or blowing, Now I think a lot of it depends on the layout of your case, i.e. if the psu is immediatly above the cpu, and the psu has vents on that side, it may well benifit from sucking rather than blowing, provided there is a decent air intake at the front of the case, try flipping the fan over and see, I'd be interested to hear if your results were different from mine.

I've got idle temps of 28 so far :)

I'm trying to decide whether to flip it around and put a case fan directly across from it exhausting the hot air, or keep it, and put a case fan giving it cooler air. Hmmm...not sure.

Fans suck from the sides and blow forward. So sucking doens't work well. In fact sucking air is so inefficient that a broken radiator shroud can make your car overheat.

Cast not thine pearls before the swine

the only hs that benefits from 'sucking' fans is an alpha hs. All others generally work better blowing. The only way to tell for sure in your situation is to try it.
