Just played through Thief 3. Damn good game. I'm just wondering what you
lot made of the end game scene. Do you think that Garret has actually
rejoined the Keepers? The fact that he returned the chalice and the Paw
certainly shows that he's gone a bit soft. Also the meeting with the
pickpocket, that echoed his own fist meeting with a keeper suggested pretty
heavily that he had rejoined. Or was he just referring to the fact that
they'd taught him. It was kind of cool the way that the story had gone full
circle.

please note that the following is one taffers opinion and should not be
judged as canon. I am taking certain truths and creating some history from
them that is not mentioned in the games, but seem logical.

I get the impression that he is 'the one true keeper' that the profecies
keep mentioning. The old keepers themselves seem to be no more. they are
lost without their glyphs. They are alive but almost powerless.

I get the impression that a third 'era' is about to begin.
the first being the ancient ones who ruled the now ruined underground
city(and then later became the mages in the gold level).
the second being the era of the keepers who tried to keep any one group from
gaining too much power (like the power the mages in the first era had, and
it cost the mages their lives through some cataclysm).
the new third era being one where garrett starts a new group(beginning with
baby girl thief from the cutscene) that will do what he does best. be a
smartass while getting rich :)

each era sought balance in its own way.
one being the balance of the elements (earth fire air water)
two being the balance between nature and technology (through the art of the
written word)
three being the balance of wealth :)
