Hi everyone, recently at work we have been "told" that we are going to be
moving to Citrix.

Currently, we have a Windows 2003 server network with over 300 desktops with
roaming profiles. We are an educational institution so our requirements are
different from that of a telemarketing company for example.

The main desktops all have base applications installed including:
Microsoft Office 2000 (Including Outlook)
Windows 2000 (Including Internet access for students)
Norton anti-virus

In addition, some desktops have Microsoft Visual Studio .NET installed (Has
anyone used this over Citrix??) as well as a few other third party
applications (Language courses etc).

The main reason for the push to Citrix is so desktops can be easily
maintained via Citrix without having to manually update each desktop like we
sometimes have to do with Windows 2003.

Currently we have three of the following servers available

Dual Xeon 2.4 Pentium 4
4 Gig ram

3 available

Now, I really do not have any problem with the proposed idea at all if it
makes life easier ;) My main concern is that due to the nature of our
business Citrix might not meet our needs.

Am I needlessly worrying? Comments welcome (especially with any links to
factual information)

Regards
John

What updates are you talking about? Both the TS and Citrix thin clients can
run on any OS including DOS.
