I know i need to check if the card is compatible and i have the right cpu socket. anything else i need to look for in compatibility?

If i'm not wrong: Type of RAMs (DDR2 or DDR3, for example), HDD (Sata, Sata II or Sata III, for example), Ports that actually matches with those your case has and.. that should be it. If i'm wrong, someone will come and just correct me if I am xD

How many and what kind of USB and SATA ports you want or need, overclocking features, sound solution, SLI or XFire, form factor of the board, i.e., ATX, micro ATX, are among other things to consider. I rely heavily on reviews also to get a feel for the quality of a particular board. Figure out what you are going to do with your PC first, then choose the most appropriate CPU, then look for a compatible board that checks all your boxes.

well will i not need most of those parts since i already have my old pc, im just replacing everything in it

" just replacing everything in it" makes it a NEW PC !!!
What do you have now ? might be able to just upgrade some parts or even keep some old ones like HDD.
