Cleaning out some minor dust build up in the rads and heard a loud pop after restarting the computer followed by a burning smell. Shut the pc down and checked around inside for any scoring or visible damage. There appears to be a chunk missing from a little black square vrm maybe? next to the 24pin cable.

That's what I figured. I got this back in November of 2015 to replace a finicky X99-A I got at launch. I don't really mind replacing the board as I'd like to get something with USB-C/TB3, but if it took anything else with it, I will be livid. I JUST completed my 5960X RMA last month and the SO will literally kill me if I buy 2 more Titan XP.

So it looks like an RMA is out for the mobo. If it's possible, maybe take the GPUs to a computer service store and have them test them.
This way you will know the scope of the problem and find out if the mobo took the GPU's over the cliff with it.

Just curious. What did you use to clean the dust out?

I'm not holding out much hope for an RMA, but I sent in a request anyway. It was a nightmare getting my PG278Q RMA. I just used a compressed can of air to blow out the dust.
