I have a Lenovo ThinkCentre M71e: 3156. I was wondering... all the specs I can find on this machine say that it only supports up to 8gb of RAM. But I've noticed all the sites that have specs for this machine are older sites, and the information hasn't been updated since 8gb ddr3 modules started being produced. So logically before those modules, with only 2 slots for RAM then 8gb would be the max. But now I am wondering if anyone can tell me, since this pc has the intel h61 express chipset, if it supports 16gb? Because the h61 express chipset does, but the specs for my sepcific computer says only 8gb max. Any help will be appreciated!

This is one of those fuzzy things where it may, but it may not...you'd need to find someone who's tried it with that same board to get any kind of confident answer.

Thank you for your help. If anyone out there can test my theory, maybe someone has this pc and an 8gb module to test out for me that'd be very helpful too!

My professional opinion is that if it is explicityly noted on the product site that it only supports 8GB, it probably has a chipset that is limited to 8GB, especially if 8GB sticks weren't around yet. I would think it's something like what happened with many of the DDR2 era machines, most of them only support 1GB per slot (or less) even though 2GB modules eventually came out...
