My build from a few years back is starting to show rust, here it is:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale 3.16GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor BX80570E8500
GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard
EVGA 896-P3-1267-AR GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked Edition 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ
Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
PC Power and Cooling S75QB 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply compatible with core i7
Also bought a Xigmatek cooler and put it all in an Antec 900 ATX Mid-Tower.
Now, looking at all of the games coming out fairly soon, and the fact that this build is now going on 3 years old, I was thinking about a new upgrade. I'd like to be able to play BF3 and possibly other coming titles with a respectable framerate at 1920x1080. Here are my thoughts on what it will look like, and keep in mind I am on a budget here, and cannot afford to be extravagant, $500-$700.
CPU: Core i5 2500K http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0354589]
MB: GIGABYTE GA-Z68A-D3H-B3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128502]
Quick question on MB's: Not really planning on needing a full bells-and-whistle MB, do I need Z68 or just a P67?
GPU: EVGA SuperClocked 01G-P3-1563-AR GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130610]
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231277]
I was planning on keeping my two current HDD's the same, as well as my power supply and case. I already have an operating system on my current build (Windows 7 64-bit).
The only other question I have is about monitors: I am still using an old Dell monitor, no widescreen and a max. resolution of 1280x1024. Obviously, I am looking to upgrade that to a 1920x1080 native resolution monitor. Any good, preferably cheaper suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
