Thinking about upgrading graphics card.

Hey guys im considering buying specifically an msi gtx 1080ti. Ill post my current specs as well to give some context. The kicker here is that since im displaying through a 4k tv other resolutions have a sort of bluring effect (not massive) but distracting considering the size of the tv. Of course the price is whats holding me back here but im already more or less halfway there (assuming we go by the $730 price not scalping price). I will of course sell off old cards if i made this purchase as well.

SSD and HD

410 phatom case

(2) msi gtx 970 sli

evga supernova 1300 g2 60+gold

Just wondering what are the thoughts everyone has on this upgrade, is it worth it? will it be a night and day difference? has anyone themselves upgraded from the 970? that kind of thing. Thanks for any input you all can provide.

u can see a 15-25% increase in perf depending on the games u play. but what fps r u getting in that 4k res? since its a TV, i expect there is no use going beyond 60 fps. and if u r getting aroung 45 fps min, thats good enough. no need to upgrade to a 1080ti.
but if u r to try all the latest games, a 1080ti makes sense. also, if u r not buying now, i am really excited abt AMD Vega releasing this winter. consider ur choices 😉

I've just replaced my 2 x 980 sli setup for an Asus Strix 1080ti

Couldn't be happier with it.

No more sli compatibility worries, no more scaling issues and a tonne of vram so it just chews up and spits out great performance for any game (apart from poorly optimised ones).

It really does depend on the game something like skyrim modded out to hell around 30 ish but i get black faces at times due to from what i understand to be running out of vram..Something more recent like prey or fallout 4 maybe 40 ish but does dip down pretty often to what i believe to be in the mid 20s.. 60 is more or less what im shooting for thats plenty smooth. Not really too familiar with the new AMD stuff people do seem to be hyped though.

Yeah thats really the major draw for me if i could go back in time i would not have messed with SLI, When it works its great but most of the time the results are either middle of the road or its not meeting my expectations even with OCing. And of course i am hitting a wall in terms of vram as well. I am almost to the point that im considering going without a computer for a weeks or so while i ebay the old cards/upgrade. But i do realize there is no need to rush this and i should approach this rationally so theirs that.
