I am currently thinking of upgrading my pc as I am starting to play more and more. With all of the AAA games coming out soon I’m thinking I may need to make some improvements. Below is my current setup

Windows 10
GTX 1060
Ryzen 5 1500x
250g m.2
16g ddr4 g skill tam (2x8)
EVGA 600w power supply

I have already purchased the following
EVGA 850 power supply as it was on sale and I knew I was upgrading soon
1tb ssd

I was looking at getting a new cpu and gpu. I was looking into the 8700k and 2600x cpu and the 2080 gpu. I know there are other components I need to upgrade if I switch to intel.

Anyone have any suggestions ? I’m not too familiar with pc upgrades as I hen always been a console gamer.
Not even sure if I actually need an upgrade. I think I just want one as I want the best performance and good gameplay.

My current motherboard is an ASUS prime x370 pro.
I bought the EVGA supernova 850 g3.
I have mainly been playing FPS And some open world games at the moment.

If you have the x370, and want to save costs, you can perform a BIOS update on the mobo and then slot in the new 2XXX series of Ryzen processors.

What is your budget for the upgrade?

yeah i was thinking that. my budget for the graphics card and cpu is about 2000. if i switched to intel i understand that would increase the cost. im just looking to upgrade and not have to touch it for 4/5 years

I would love to do that. The problem is getting my hands on a 1080ti is near impossible as they’re discontinued so I may have to go to 2080.
My monitor is 1920x1080.

If your refresh rate is 144hz on that 1080p panel, don't go higher than a gtx 1080 or triple A titles.
If it's only 60hz just stick with something like a gtx 1070 for longevity.

My monitor is 144hz. If I’m going to upgrade I feel like a 1070 wouldn’t be justifiable as I have a 1060 6g right now. If I’m upgrading I want to be happy with the change and make it last 4/5 years. The 10 series is being discontinued

If you sell off your current parts you can subsidise your costs. What case do you have? Do you want to keep that? The builds below assume a new case.

If your current RAM speed is <3000 Mhz, you can sell it off to subsidise costs. If not, you can replace it with the RAM in the builds below to save costs.

All builds have money left over for if you want to step it up to 32 gigs of RAM or a 2080 Ti, but the 2nd option would cross $2k.
