Thinking of getting an Asus ROG Swift

I'm a huge sucker for high framerates, I've always loved the interpolation effect on my TV and now with a 144hz refresh rate and G sync the ROG Swift sounds like a dream come true.

What I'm not sure about is what frame rate a DisplayPort or HDMI cable can support at 2560 x 1440 resolution. Assuming my GPU can handle it, will I actually be able get 100+ FPS at this resolution? Thanks in advance.

Solution
1440p at 144hz is pretty much the highest spec that uses DP 1.2 at the moment (this is equivalent to 1080p @256hz, even 4k @ 60hz uses less than 1440p @ 144hz).

Swift wouldn't be using 1440p 144hz if the cable it is tied to doesn't support it.
It would help if we knew what your GPU was to tell you if you'd get 100+ FPS.

an ROG Swift can only be connected by DisplayPort. It has no other connections whatsoever. HDMI would only support 1440p at 60 Hz, but again you cant connect using HDMI. You need DisplayPort for 1440p@144 Hz.

GPU determines your framerate, not your cable. The cable can only determine your max refresh rate in this case.

^ What he said.

There's a reason DP1.2 is the only port on the Swift. It's the best cable suited to the job. I have a Swift and I love mine, so if you're looking for buttery smooth 144 Hz 1440p, this is the monitor to get.

Interested. Source? What's the refresh rate on them?
