Thinking of making P3 rig (vintage)

I was thinking of making a vintage Pentium IIi rig to run Windows Vista/7; what do you recommend? Yes I know a P3 is from 1998 and would be Slower than molasses, but I want to test that then settle on Windows 9x/2k. Thanks!

Win 7 in any case, more optimized than Vista.

Agreed on 7 over vista, but what OS after that, like 98, 2k, or what? If I start its going to be after school gets out for summer break in a few months so...

P3? I would like to know why you came up with such build.

But anyways, the 98 is i guess okay foe the p3 rig. Windows 7 might be ram hungry for this build.

Depends on what you plan to run on it, for vintage games (early 90's and before) Win 98 SE would be the one to go.

Depending what you wanted to do with it, maybe a lightweight linux distro? I wouldn't go 9x again, what a hassle and poor memory management. If anything, maybe win2k, that was a fairly solid os I used for years. Before they merged the nt kernel was much better and stable but depending how old you go may have trouble with some software.

I just wanted to do a vintage build for DOS gaming and stuff. For fun and as a small project over the summer.

If so, match it up with a vintage mod. Ya know, vintage stuff anw, yeah linux slept my mind but as far for windows, i domt have ideas about older versions
