Thinking of upgrading to a 2nd gtx 980

Will my corsair 1000w rm1000 support a 2nd gtx 980? Or am I better off going for a 970?

You can run two 980's off of a good 750 watt power supply. 1000 is plenty.

I heard the gtx 980 is power hungry gpu that requires at least a 500wat psu to power it!!

A 500w is the minimum reccomendation for powering the whole system with a 980 not for just the card. The maxwell cards are very power effcient.
