Question ThinkPad 13 black screen

Hello,
My ThinkPad 13 2nd gen doesn't boot anymore for no obvious reason.
The red status LED is glowing. I have carefully disassembled the laptop, re-seated the RAM, removed the battery and reinserted it. A high-pitched beep can be heard when it's powered on.
What are my options?

Can you elaborate on the beep? Did you try working with another slot for the ram? Might also want to see if you can borrow another stick of ram to try out on your laptop, to rule out your current stick of ram being faulty/failing.

It's a high-pitched, very quiet, buzzing kind of noise. Seems to originate from under the heat sink. I don't know whether it's present in normal operation.
Did you try working with another slot for the ram?

Good point, I was going to buy some anyway.

If the RAM was faulty, shouldn't the BIOS work at least?
I also forgot to mention that this happened while the computer was suspended.

Disconnect from the wall and battery, then press and hold down the power button to discharge the laptop. Then try and wipe the gold contacts on the ram stick with an eraser, clean it off of any dirt or debris then reseat in the laptop, power up with the power brick not the adapter.
