Hi! I am looking for a new laptop, my preferred specs are: 16 GB RAM (or 8 + free slot), good battery life, 14-15", native FullHD, integrated graphics card, SSD. My primary job is programming, so I've chosen ThinkPad L480/L580.
I think these are perfect to me.. but what if I need to edit a video - are U processors okay for occasional video editing? (I haven't had any experience with it)
Does have 15" L580 better cooling than L480? Or should I look for a HP laptop?

Any CPU can do video editing, the difference is how long you need to wait for the render to be done.

The U CPUs are made to be slower and run cooler for laptop use so they will run slower than higher end ones that gaming or workstation class laptops would have. Any modern mid range or better CPU is good enough for video editing though, what you get is up to you, if you want best speed or better cost and battery life.
