Thinkpad L480 powers off unexpectedly / Randomly, Issue started 3days ago, No changes have been made (software / hardware) Errors logged in the MS Event Viewer) States as below :
event ID: 6008: The previous system shutdown at 7:24:45 PM on ‎6/‎3/‎2021 was unexpected.
Event ID 41: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

Specs: Core i5-8250U 1.8Ghz, 32GB RAM, 250GB HDD, Running Win10 pro 64bit

1. All system drivers are up to date

2. BIOS is on the latest version / Bios FW upgrade performed / version: R0QET63W

3. Fast startup is turned off / Speedstep disabled from Bios (made no difference)

4. Changed power plans (made no difference) / Battery guage reset done via Lenovo Vantage App (did not remove the battery) / Lenovo diagnostics tools found no errors. Using original 65W power adaptor

5. sfc /scannow shows no errors

6. Clean Windows install done ( with updates and without updates it still happenes )

7. CPU temp around 38C

I saw similar postings on other forums about other Brands as well and I'm wondering if the board / battery is causing this issue.

Kindly assist.

Solution
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Fast Startup/FastBoot doesn't cause the system to shut off, you can enable that in BIOS. Just out of curiosity, did you use your laptop's S/N on their support site to bring up the laptop's support page to ensure that you're indeed on the latest BIOS version for the laptop? With a clean install, did you recreate your bootable USB installer using Windows Media Creation Tools? To doublecheck, what version of Windows 10 are you on? Ideally you should be on version 21H1.

As for the power, what about the power input to your laptop, how old is the laptop at this point and does the input end of the laptop feel warm or hot to the touch?
