Question Third lane x16 works the same as first lane x16?

So basically my first x16 lane wont give me signal so i ve been using the third lane which is x16/x8 and didnt really noticed a fps change but I could be wrong.

Just to solve a doubt, does it works the same as long as it says x16?

Depends on motherboard.
Different motherboards can have widely different PCIE slot configurations.
PCIE x8 slot obviously has only half the bandwidth of PCIE x16 slot.

For modern platforms, the first GPU slot is connected to CPU and the rest are chipset lanes.

If you bought that 2060 should be really no difference in X8 and X16 if it's at least a 3.0 slot.

Well is an old mobo, Asus rampage extreme IV but gladly all seems to be 3.0, i remember when i bought it it was an expensive feature which i am glad i paid for lol, got future me covered.

Yeah got the 2060, the ASUS dual 6G Evo, i am receiving it today.

obviously with a new gpu, you should give that first slot a try. might get lucky and it works with the new gpu

Yeah was thinking about doing it, i am really wishing it works but in case it doesnt i really hope using another x16 lane doesnt really limit the power.

Slots x8_2A, x8_2B - work in x8 mode.
Slot x8_4 works in x8 mode. Using this slot switches x16/8_3 into x8 operation mode.

Thanks ma man, i supposed that was the case then i read somewhere that the first slot even is the same x16 works better cause goes directly to cpu and others x16 slots goes to the chipset, i am not really expert thats why my doubt came up.
