Hello,
I have just purchased a Freecom USB 3.0 Express Card in order to use a Western Digital USB 3.0 external hard drive with my laptop which only has USB 2.0 ports.
After running the software from the Freecom CD I installed the Express Card in the laptop and attached the supplied power adaptor.
The Express Card shows up in Device Manager under USB (USB 3.0 host controller and USB 3.0 root hub).
I then connected the external hard drive to the Express Card, and immediately a message came up that "This device will perform faster if connected up to a super-speed USB 3.0 port".
I tried using the external hard drive and it is indeed operating at USB 2.0 speeds, not USB 3.0.
My laptop is running Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit, with SP 1.
I have tried connecting the external hard drive to the Express Card with each of 3 separate USB 3.0 cables, but the outcome is the same with each cable.
