Microsoft Edge has this annoying red dot that hangs out over my profile pic in the upper right hand corner, that's very distracting (and kind of an eye sore).

large

I've been able to remove it in the past, by adding registry key "ExperimentationAndConfigurationServiceControl"

However, I recently upgraded to version 115.0.1901.188, and it appears this registry setting no longer works (and my research on other forums says this became a problem before this version as well).

Just curious if anyone figured out an easy way to remove it, as it keeps coming back after I clear it. Or a way to update the registry key to fix it. Thanks!

How to remove the red dot on the corner of Edge's profile button

Here is the solution: Also in link below instrustions.
Find your shortcut to open Edge. Right-click with your mouse on Properties.
On the tab that is now opened there is a Target field. In this field you see the path to Edge, something like "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe"
At the end (AFTER the ending quote) add an extra space and then this:
--disable-features=msShowSignInIndicator
Now it should look like this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe" --disable-features=msShowSignInIndicator
Press the Apply button and the OK button.
Restart Edge, red dot is now gone.
Enjoy and have a nice day.
