Question This enough to kill motherboard?

Hi,

Setting up new build. MB is z390 pro4. When I turn on everything works (gtx 2070, 16 GB ram, evga 750, h100i cooler) except it does not boot into BIOS. Monitor reads nothing. Going through rebuild steps and discovered scratch? right below CPU.

I am not seeing any lights on ethernet port when I turn on. Thinking that if I have damaged trace that the MB is DOA. This is my second build in 7 years, would it be possible to kill MB but all other components still work?

depends on what the trace is carrying and to what.

like reaching into a bundle of wire and cutting two. the right two spare wires and no issue, the wrong two wires and the whole shebang goes down.

Based on everything else working I imagine the traces are mission critical...or were mission critical. Will return with updates.

Judging by where they are, they probably are needed. You maybe could bridge them with wire, but those traces may be very sensitive so that wouldnt work.

Happy to report that a new MB has been installed and we are ready to rock. Bought the original on Amazon and they shipped me a new one, no questions asked.
