Hello and good day to anyone reading this! For the first time ever I'm attempting to build my own PC. I never knew much about them but after hours of research and YouTube videos I think I finally understand at least a little about what's needed. So I came up with a list of parts to put together that I think will work. (Hopefully)

Would you guys be willing to look this list over and see if I made any horrible mistakes? Like I said, totally new to all this so opinions are very welcome!
Also, I mostly play RPGs and RPGMMOs.

Thanks! :)

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor

Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P ATX AM3+

Memory: G.Skill Sniper 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600

Hard Drive: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 270X 2GB TWIN FROZR

Power Supply: Corsair Builder 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX

OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)

What would you say your budget is?

I'd change the PSU. The CX series isn't very high quality and should be avoided when possible. The EVGA B2 750W is actually on-sale for $50, cheaper than the CX and much better quality.

The 8320 would be a better choice, it's only about $20 more than the 6300. Intel would be a better choice for gaming, but will cost more.

If you're playing mmos/mmorpgs I would go Intel for stronger single core performance. Do you have a partlist link I can look at? I can post a better build at a similar price if you'd like.

I would drop the SSD to get a better CPU/GPU. Also do you already have a case?

Pretty solid.. But a i3 is going to better in most games with a good upgrade path to a i5 that can support any future stronger gpu upgrade.

So if it means dropping the solid state drive and getting one later for a i3/5+z97 motherboard it would be worth it in my opinion.

Here's the link to the parts list: (I hope I copied the right one anyway, lol)

I've read so many articles on AMD vs Intel that it makes my head spin, haha! I'm not going to be OC or anything or even keeping track of FPS and such. I just want to be able to play my games and enjoy them without an insane amount of lag.

I'd like to keep it under 850$ if possible.

Thank you so much for the fast replies!

lol thought about it for a minute... guess im gettn old and slow

I'd go for something like this:

The Z97 board isn't needed, but it's about the same price as a good H97 board.

All are good... put your RAMs In same colour slot DDR3_1 and DDR3_2 slot as motherboard enables dual channel memory mode if two same ram sticks are installed in same colour slot, it doubles the original memory bandwidth. If you can give some extra money for mobo then see this

It will be best motherboard for the other components that you had choose. And remember take a good case. Your graphics card have to fit In
that case. For it see the dimensions of case and graphics card. BEST LUCK FOR YOUR BUILT!!!!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this for me :) I appreciate it. I'm going to go through and read about the things you would change. Thanks again!

That's pretty much the conclusion I've come to after everything I've read. It looks like to me that it comes down to the age old 'Chevy vs Ford' or 'Coke vs Pepsi' debate. There are those people who are AMD fans and then those who are Intel fans.

$850 before or after rebates?

Either. In the end if it comes out to under 850$ I'll be happy.

My take on it:

Solution

Oohh more research for me to do. :) Thank you very much for taking the time to put this together. I'm going to read up on the differences! Thanks!

RazerZ build will beast in any game. No need to even think about getting a second gpu with a GTX 970 @ 1080p
