Current gpu: GeForce gtx 550 ti

As long as you have an available PCI-Ex16 slot (and since you already have the GTX 550Ti, you do) the card is compatible.

Yes that gpu is fine unless your case is too small to fit it. Look at the measurement of the card and check if your case has the room for it.
