This has to be simple, can't figure this out

Did a clean sweep of anything Nvidia (for space issues), switched over to 10 from 8.1, My 980 isn't detected. Can't load GeForce Exp, win 10 drivers, anything because nothing is detected. Tried using disk for drivers, same thing. Even checked Bios and the lane is shown as empty

I know.. But your problem right now is occurring before Windows even has a chance to load. The BIOS has to check out each device, and if it does not detect it, then its not on the list for it to tell Windows about it.

What if you plug the video card into another slot. Does that change anything?
If the BIOS does not see the video card, nothing else is going to see it either. Which means the drivers will not install either.

I think the first thing I would do is to go into the BIOS, and on the Save/Exit page, select Restore Default Settings, then Save and Exit. It will then restart, and go back into the BIOS and see if the card is detected then. if not, make sure the PCIe slot is enabled for primary graphics. Also, you may need to reset the boot order, and possibly the XMP setting, depending on what memory you are using.

Put on safe mode, tried the disc. Won't work for win 10.
Downloaded win driver manually to thumbdrive, tried to load in safe mode, same error, it's just not detecting it.

Restored UEFI defaualts
PCIe Slot is enabled
Restarted still not detected
Didn't see an XMP setting but I have 4 sticks of DDR3-1600

Make sure the video card is getting power, and I would actually remove it and reinsert it into the motherboard.

For whatever reason, its not being detected by the BIOS, which means the motherboard is not seeing the card, and if the motherboard does not see it, Windows is not going to be able to. We are not there to see what is happening. So you need to do what you can to get that card working.

I have removed and reinserted it 5-6 times now. It's an EVGA the lights are on and the fans start on post. I don't see how the mobo could go bad the second I "upgraded" to windows 10. But with my luck...

Well that was way to simple...It's baffling that the top slot "died" only after updating to 10.

Thanks again!
