Hi guys, i'm new to tom hardware forum, nice day to all!! 😀
I got a problem with a pc desktop....i got a Hp Pavilion with the motherboard Asus P5LP-LE with windows vista (obviusly).
Because i'm a stupid, I erase the partition of windows vista (not the partition of recovery), and i set up windows xp.
Obviusly i don't find the driver (thanks HP!!!), and now the recovery mode don't go X.X
I restart the pc and press "f11" in the hp screen but nothing...now i got an idea...if i re-install windows vista...can the recovery mode return to work? I really wish for it .___.

Solution
Vista has gotten better since MS ironed out the bugs. Though i have a low end machine running Windows 7 and performance wise it does pretty much the same as Vista (i dual booted XP, Vista and 7).

Is your processor a single or dual core? Kinda need more specs to see if you did any upgrades or you are running stock or possibly got a better model with higher specs. I'd try the Vista recovery disc if you have it.. HP should also help you out if you run into any problems. Plus if you don't have a Windows 7 disc with the product key working you're most likely going to spend quite a lot.
i would install win 7 too, but for this mainboard you can only find driver for windows vista...i wanna use this pc like a mule....just for play lol and use as storage drive...so i don't mind if it get win vista or 7...

Don't install Windoiws 7, you will have more issues than a box full of used tissues!

You will have to re-instal Vista, you can use the Backup & Restore disk (if you created one) or use the Os install disk.

If you want XP as well, you need to add an extra hdd or partition the HDD to about 20gb for XP.

I'm using Vista x32 rght now, right here! :)
My video card is only 512mb, ram is 4gb of which 3.5gb is accessible, it's only DDR2 800mhz. My hdd is only 160gb.
You can get away with a lot with Vista but with Windows 7, everything gets really laggy and freezing often occurs.
I go a PC with Windows 7 x32 (1gb video card, 4gb ram) and one other with Windows7 x64 (2gb video card, 8gb ram) but they seemed to have too many issues with internet and youtube, and reading PDF files so I only use them for other things like video editing, and Office products..

I use IE9, but only because TH had issues with IE8 and this is where I am most of the time, besides that, the tabs are better and adding to Favourites does not require finding the folder again that I just created, as with IE8.

You could try Windows 7 but your rig is really low end, I doubt that you will get good response time and probably have lagging and device errors due to a lack of driver support.

Vista has its own share of issues, there is not one OS that doesn't have some sort of problem, you just have to use software and games and devices that are actually designed for Vista rather than trying to force comaptibility.
