This is weird. need help with my ATI 5850.

i was playing cod6 one day. first the graphics were amazing, but then while taking a break and coming back, i noticed the graphics suddenly got worse and my fps dropped from 60 to about 20. the card also heats up more than usual. it idles at around 40-50 now. before, i had everything on extra, everything on, aa 4x, ands so on.

core I7 920 with h50 water cooling( no oc)
asus rampage 3 extreme
ATI radeon 5850 oc 765/1125
6gb ddr3 1600
1000 watt coolermaster psu
windows 7 ultimate 64

what can i do? i have literally no spending money right now, so new one is not an option.

no articacts are on the screen. i have lots of knoledge about pc.

clean your card.. reapply some mx2 or mx3

will opening th casing void my warranty?
i really dont want to void it now.

the card is relatively clean. i blow into it from time to tine to get tome dust out.. just recently cleaned out the fan.

anything else you can suggest?


keep in mind that this happened within 1 hour of getting off the game.
before i got off, it didnt makie the fan spin faster, FPS was 60+, twmt was lower, and quality of graphics was much better. all settings were on max.

now, i get 20-30 fps when all settings are high, 20-40fps with aa lowered to 2x, and still slow and bad graphicxs, heats up more and fan spins faster.

update.
fixed prob;lem.
apparently ccc and cod6 graphics controld were interfeering with one another.
now i'm running 60fps no problem.

btw, if u change thermal grease on graphics card, is warranty void?
