My rig :

  • CPU : Intel i5 7400 3.0 Ghz
  • RAM : 16 GB
  • Graphics card RTX 2060 Super
  • PSU : Corsair V650 (650 watts)
  • Motherboard : Gigabyte h270m-d3h
  • Fans : 3 external fans
  • OS : Windows 10 / 64-bit
  • Hard Drives : HDD 1 TB (Games) and SSD 120 GB (System files)
  • Air-conditioned room
The weird thing is... my cpu fans sounds like they are about to explode with fans spinning up to 3.5k rpm while gaming and 2k when idle. The temperature of the CPU while idle is at 30-40 C and the temp when gaming is at 60-75 C. I'm not sure but I think it wasn't like this when I was still using my GTX 1060.

  1. Is my CPU Overheating?
  2. I also noticed my thermal paste is really thin, is it also a factor?
  3. Do I have faulty sensors?
  4. Is it bad if it is like this every day?

your GPU is more powerful now so the CPU has to work harder to keep up.
the CPU temps aren't alarming for gaming and your CPU won't OC so there's not much danger of overheating.

you may be able to change your fan curve to lower the noise (may increase CPU temps a bit).
periodically reapplying thermal paste is a good idea - don't worry about thin, thin is good for heat transfer - a little dab goes a long way.

you can also replace the CPU fan with something quieter like a Noctua if it becomes unbearable.

  1. Not according to your reported temps.
  2. Did you remove the cooler and reapply?
  3. Maybe, check a couple different monitoring software's and compare.
  4. Other than a noisy fan, no. It's how it was designed to operate.
What cooler? Factory intel?

You're probably gonna get a warning for your language. Family friendly site.
my bad, anyways yeah the cpu cooler is built in (intel) however I also have 3 external fans.

Thank you for your answer ! It is noted.

Thank you so much! Is a thick (0.1 cm) thermal paste ok though?
