News This new SSD will literally self destruct if you push the big red button it comes with — Team Group posts video of data destruction in action

One good solid, well targeted wallop, with a heavy hammer.

Job done, in an instant...
Things have been recovered from hammer-treated drives in the past. Also, thermite is <$10/lb. Just saying, if you're going to do a job, you may as well do it right. By which I mean, way overkill, with a flame so hot and bright, it will literally burn your retinas just by looking at it.

I'm thinking of my 4.4lb, long-handled lump hammer and, a good swing at it! Thermite is used for welding railway line rail joints, is good stuff.

While not only do I agree with your statement, and in a previous life I've handled thermite devices that were meant to rapidly reduce big GSA approved safes to pools of metal. This kind of thermite isn't exactly easy to acquire without certain licenses and transporting it is even more regulated. Trying to go around purchasing it is almost certainly going to put your name on the radar of the ATF.

We got some self destructive devices on the past.

Some OCZ devices with barefoot controllers
Some kingston nvme drivers
SanDisk portable devices.
Some adata devices and crap Chinese ssds with the innogrit controllers... self destructive

Some old hdds on the list quantum fireaballs, maxtor toshiba death stars and almost all samsung hdd are prone to make you happy.

Your data don't need a button to get destroyed. Some mothetboards have on bios the option to erase all your data :)
