This One or That One?

Solution
Neither for me. 1920x1080 resolution is too small for a 27 inch monitor and pixels are a lot more noticeable. I would go for a 2560x1440 resolution on a 27 inch monitor.

If you're sticking with 1920x1080 then the sweet spot is 23-24 inches.

^ I agree with that. 27" - 32" should be 1440p. Anything larger than 32" and you want 4K. On the other side of that, people buying 24" ( small ) 4K screens make no sense either since it's too small for the higher resolution to be noticeable.

I have a cheapo 27" HD and I use it all day for work and for gaming. It's fine for me, I don't notice a lot of pixelation.

I'd like to move up to a 2K but I do not think my Geforce GTX 960 would be able to push it enough for me to get good framerates for gaming.

Can't afford to get a new vid card.

The 2K I had settled on was:

ASUS MX27AQ 27" WQHD 2560x1440 IPS HDMI Eye Care Frameless Monitor

I'm just curious on what games you are playing and what frame rates you consider good. I'm running an old GTX 570 on an ASUS PB278Q 1440p monitor and I have no problems with CS:GO on high settings with 125FPS. For Overwatch, I had to use low settings to get consistent 70FPS.

That ASUS MX27AQ looks very nice with thin frames and it's decently priced.

Me? I can max every game ( so far ) except Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and the GTX 1080 can barely max it at 1440p. The Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Rise of the Tomb Raider...lets see Wolfenstein: The New Order and Wolfenstein: The Old Blood are pretty demanding. Skyrim with about 50 mods including the Realvision ENB. I get close to a solid 60 FPS in all those titles with all graphics settings fully maxed. The Witcher 3 is a little less, maybe 50-55 FPS but that's with Hairworks maxed.

Battlefield 1, Crysis 3, Dishonored 2 (when they patch the PC port so it works)... mostly FPS. I'm good with FPS of 30 with cranked settings but certainly would like more like 60.

I do really like that Asus - but the card. What to do about the card.

Those are very nice results. I'll upgrade my graphics card when the games I play require more than the GTX 570.

The GTX 960 (1440p monitor) should be able to run most of the new games at low-medium settings and older games on high. Here's an old thread about this; this could be useful. http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2627249/1080p-1440p-gtx-960-4gb.html
