Yes, you wont have any issues at 1440p with a 980ti paired with a very capable CPU and the screen you choose is probably the best one that exists at the moment.

Depends on which VR you will be using. But even highend VRs like the HTC Vive should work without problems, because it still has a lower resolution than 2560x1440.
It runs at 1200x1080 per eye so 2592000 pixels compared to 2560x1440 with 3686400 pixels.

So you're VR ready no matter which VR.
