It's important to note that I already have a complete system with this PSU and I've been using it for two years with no problems.

So basically I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card to something better, stronger and more expensive.
This is the one I've finally chosen: http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=04G-P4-3778-KR

This is my power source: http://www.topower.com/product/TOP650W.html

I've gotten mixed replies everywhere I go. People say it will run but it's "unreliable", some people say there will be no issue, and so people just say that I shouldn't do it.

What do I do? I really don't want to get another PSU, because I'm on a budget.

Thanks!

Kinda. I wouldn't say 50/50 like stated above, I'd just say, sooner than later, it'll be a good idea. Good luck!

You are short of PCE-8pin conector with this PSU !

Requirements of EVGA GeForce GTX 770 4GB Dual Classified w/ EVGA ACX Cooler
http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=04G-P4-3778-KR
Minimum of a 600 Watt power supply.
(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 42 Amps.)
Two available 8 pin PCI-E power connectors - you have 1x6 pin and 1x6 pin +2 pin - 1 x8 pin short here ........
Total Power Draw : 250 Watts - just for GPU - this leave 400 for the rest of the PC ..... i`ll be more agree if you run atleast 700W

Advise you to consider this one PSU :
SeaSonic SS-750KM3 750W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151087&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

Since it`s SLI ready it have needed 2 x 8-Pin EPS 12V

Let me help you here.

Top Power - generic power supply with a 1 year warranty
Corsair - one of the best names in PSUs with a 3 year warranty

That alone should tell you something.

I really want some more info on this. What's bad about it? I need to know so I can judge whether or not I should buy a new one.

Did you read my post ?

You are short of PCE-8pin conector with this TOP-650PM PSU !
Forget the quality for a second
- you CAN`T conect you GTX 770 to that PSU !
You need 2 x 8 pin PCE power conector - you have only 1 ....

read my previose post

^ true that. The fact that they only offer 1 year warranty on their units ought to be enough reason to stay away, besides it's ranking on the newegg psu tier is crap. There are few good PSU builders, and it's highly recommended to stick with them, or face the consequences of a poor quality unit.

Dude - how you propose to conect this GTX770 ?
With cable converters ?
2 x Molex to 8pin PCE ........
You`r joking right ????????
On 250 W GPU ....
Risking 350 $ ......
I`ll never advise any one to use MOLEX instead of Build In PCE power conectors !

OMG ......
And check EVEGA site - they do NOT come with connectors ........

Wait it comes with a connector? I'm really confused now!

I'll go with a new Corsair PSU. Corsair is always #1!

Huge spam of usles information ......

It`s simple as been .....
- the GPU manifacturer have minimum requirements as follow :
- minimum 600W
- 2 x 8 pin PCE power connectors

Order what ever you like - if it have 2 x 8 pin PCE and it`s above 600W and it`s suite you budget !
If you like to stay on quality - you have plenty to choose from.

The power supply isn't very reliable but it would probably run with the GPU. Nikolay, you need to stop getting serious over this forum.

8 pin PCE. Is this the same as 6+2 pin?

Yes
It does the same job as 8 pin !

Okay. Thanks for all your replies but I need one more, straight forward answer.

What is so sketchy about my current PSU? Does it turn off? Break randomly? I've been using it for 2 years and haven't encountered an issue.

Hey mate, it's not that it will 'turn off' or anything, it's that it has a higher probability of failing and hurting your components if/when it does. That's why they don't back them with more warranty, they're not high enough quality for TopPower to stand behind.

That's the only reason I'm suggesting a change. When you're adding a nice card like that (GTX 770), you really want to protect it from PSU failure.

It could be it would last you another 5 years with no issues, then again, there's a decent chance it has issues that a higher quality unit wouldn't have.

Cheers

So in other words it's a $430 gamble. Good to know. If I can spare any more cash I'll get another PSU but I'm pretty broke.

I'm not sure how I marked your post as the answer but I guess that's how it is. How do I un-mark it..?

Kinda. I wouldn't say 50/50 like stated above, I'd just say, sooner than later, it'll be a good idea. Good luck!

Alright, well thanks everyone! Can anyone recommend a good PSU that ships to Canada? Preferably in the $60-ish range(is this too cheap? I can go a bit higher).
My current PSU is 650 watts and it's all working well, so I guess I'd be looking for a new 650 watt PSU.
