Hey experts! So I'm getting pretty close to having all the parts together for the next build. I'm wondering if anyone could chime in, preferably with experience using both brands, but not required - whether I should opt for Crucial 4800 Mhz 2x32GB Kit or Corsair Vengeance 5200 Mhz 2x32GB Kit ?

Both are discounted, I've been watching both for quite some time now, so it seems like an ideal time to consider actually pulling the trigger. They're both DDR5 kits and both appear to have CL40 timings. Please, any recommendations would be solid! Also I haven't 100% bought the motherboard yet either, I have a nice one picked out, but the DDR5 version of the board only seems to be available from one place and it's out of stock as seen here.

Also I could possibly be convinced to go DDR4 memory if you could recommend some respectable kits and motherboards, but I'm heavily leaning on the DDR5 kits and board, despite the higher CL timings.

Oh and there's no insanely heavy workstation loads happening, mostly gaming, software development and an above average amount of multi-tasking with many application types running at the same time, including with some game a lot of the time. Pairing with 13900K and 3080 Ti.

Solution
I like these better than either of the kits you listed, and they are less expensive. They are also validated for your motherboard model.

Or if you want to go with a faster kit, these would be a good choice.

What memory kit you should buy depends ENTIRELY on what board you go with. Sometimes also what CPU model, but that is less of a factor than it once was. Without knowing the board model first, it's impossible to make a responsible recommendation on a memory kit because we'd have no idea if it was compatible and had been validated for it's XMP profile on that board or not.

Please read my memory guide, and then if you still have questions or require a recommendation on a good memory kit, decide what board you will be going with FIRST, then pick a memory kit that is shown as compatible by using the G.Skill memory configurator, Corsair memory finder or Crucial memory advisor, on each manufacturer's respective websites. They will show what kits, filterable by speed, capacity, etc., are validated for each motherboard model.

Hey, thanks for responding. I can see why that would make a lot of sense. Well, I did link a motherboard in my original post and that one is the one I indeed intend to buy if that helps with 64 GB kit recommendations. I did offer the potential to be convinced to go with a DDR4 board and 64 GB kit, but I'd really prefer not to, so that is unlikely. Thanks!

Also bonus question: When are the Z790 boards going to become more available and in stock? Later this month? December? April?

Hello again, thanks for these suggestions! They indeed look like quite the step up, though as for them being cheaper, at least here in Canada, is definitely not the case..

Looking at $460 and $545 CAD for those kits as opposed to the ones I showed which are hovering around $360 and $400 respectively (CAD of course).

That said, this is the one as close to what you suggested that I could find somewhat reasonably as a Canadian buyer. I was hoping you could confirm this kit is good for the board as well? It's just white instead, yeah? Also, would you say with a 13900K that there would be any significant difference between the 5200 and 5600 kits you've shown?

Yep, that kit would be fine too. Sorry, didn't see the fact that you are Canada.

These too.

@Darkbreeze
Sorry about another ping. I've pulled the trigger on this 5600 Mhz kit ! Apparently the white (which I prefer) was around 30-40 dollars cheaper than the black. And the price shown was a full price, after shipping, taxes and import. Which it had free shipping and no taxes, just a 55$ or so import fee. Pretty sweet! Thanks again for the help.

Hey again all and hey @Darkbreeze !

So I got the kit and motherboard, kit is here, but the board will be here in a week or so. However I could still return the kit to amazon for a refund until february.

The reason I'm bringing this up is because I had somewhat of a hardware guru in a community I know mentioned something about 'samsung ram modules not being great' for whatever reason. he's a bit of an overclocking nut. He recommended this more expensive but slightly different kit because it's "hynex" whatever that means. This is the kit. What do you think? Should I consider opting to this kit instead? Slight faster CAS, slightly more expensive.
