[SOLVED] This System for recording gameplay with obs ?

This is my upcoming build....
  1. i5 9600kf ( 6 core, 6 thread, 9mb cache, 3.7ghz base & 4.6 ghz turbo)
  2. MSI MAG B365M Mortar Motherboard
  3. G.Skill Trident Z RGB (8gb x 2) 3000mhz running on 2666mhz mobo...
  4. Seagate 1tb for windows, etc. & 2TB separate for recorded videos
  5. GPU - MSI GTX 1660 Gaming X (6GB GDDR5)
  6. Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 650W 80+ Gold Fully Modular

Want to record games at 1080 60 or at minimum 720 60......

Can't increase budget (already max)

  1. How will 12 threads over 6 benefit me in recording gameplay ( i mean why not cores or cache?)
  2. Base frequency is less on this one, only 3.3 ghz, but in i5 9600kf which i stated earlier) has base of 3.7ghz... So wouldn't this reduce performance?

If this is your motherboard, no point in buying a 3000mhz RAM.
And about OBS recording, getting a processor with more threads is better and future proof.
Might wanna take a look at Ryzen builds? (Ryzen 5 3600 / 3600X in the least?). Ryzen motherboards usually support higher ram frequency.
Intel motherboards with H/B chipsets won't allow high RAM frequencies.

  • Threads: This is the number of independent processes a chip can handle at once, which in theory would be the same as the number of cores. However, many processors have multithreading capability, which allows a single core to create two threads. Intel calls this Hyper-Threading and AMD calls it SMT (Simultaneous Multithreading). More threads means better multitasking and enhanced performance on heavily-threaded apps such as video editors and transcoders.

And for your second question, lower base clock usually mean better energy saving when running light tasks. And heavy tasks require higher turbo boost clock.
And remember, a newer generation core is usually more powerful. Meaning, a 10th gen 3ghz core is more powerful than a 9th gen 3ghz.

Note that ryzen mobos support higher RAM frequencies. But intel mobos with B/H chipsets won't allow high RAM frequencies. So, get a 2400/2666mhz RAM if you aren't upgrading mobo soon. This'll save some money.

You could get a ryzen 3600x for a lot less and spend the extra money on a better GPU. Such as 1660ti.
Gaming performance of 3600x is almost identical to 10600. But it can save a lot of money and also allow your 3000mhz RAM. And the best part is, the rest of the money can get you a better GPU with solid 1080p performance.
I know that overclocked 10600k(note that there's a "k") is waaaaay better. But your motherboard won't allow overclocking as it isn't a Z-series chipset Mobo.

Alright, I get it. So now I think ryzen 3600x will be better. btw, I live in India... So now few more things to ask -

  1. I'm using an old i3 2120 from 2012 till now with no malfunction. So, I'm a bit afraid if amd cpu gets bad in few years coz I don't want to spend my time in claiming warranty very soon?
  2. Ryzen 3600x is same price here in India but with only 4.4 ghz turbo (i5 9600kf has 4.7), So would it make any difference? Remember I only have to record gameplay at 1080p 60.
  3. Now After u kindly answer these 2 questions, Can i list all my parts that I've finalized so you can put a green or red flag on my build?

Again, i5 9600kf, i5 10600 (not K ) & ryzen 3600x.... all of these are almost same price here.... how would u rate i5 10600 specifically coz it has 6 cores, 12 threads (which u asked for more than 6) & 12mb + 3.3 to 4.8 turbo....

See, I'm leaning toward intel more coz i'll have to change few other components too if i switch to amd, rn i've made my cart according to intel...so I hope you understand :):) again, thanks for ur precious time...

As I said, unless you're overclocking those i5s, you won't get any noticable better performance than the 3600x. And intel requires high-end and expensive Z motherboards to overclock. So, that's not an option.

Ryzen 5 3600x should run fine on stock cooler if you're not overclocking.

AMD is not gonna die out in a few years(unless you're EXTREMELY unlucky. And with a luck that bad even Intel won't last XD). They are also of great quality. (There's a common myth among Indian and Bangladeshi people that Intel is good and AMD is bad. But that's not true. Both are excellent in their own way but AMD is more on the affordable side)

What do you mean you have to change more components by switching to AMD rather than intel?

IMPORTANT: I'm guessing you will not overclock your CPU. Then you SHOULD get the 3600 (not the "x"). They are barely differentiable (0-2% maybe?) at stock speeds. 3600 is WAY cheaper than 10600. Get a 3600 and a Gtx1660Ti. You won't have to worry about performance for quite a few years. Believe me:)
