I'm considering the Acer Predator X34P Ultrawide monitor (34" IPS panel, 3440x1440, 100-120Hz, 4ms, NVidia G-Sync) for a usage pattern that will be a balance of productivity (programming, web browsing, office apps, photo editing) and entertainment (movie watching / gaming).

Question 1 - Will the following system setup be powerful enough to keep up with and fully utilize my Acer Predator X34P ?
  • Intel Core i7-9700k CPU
  • ASUS ROG Strix Z390-E / MSI MPG Z390 GAMING PRO CARBON AC / GIGABYTE Z390 AORUS PRO WiFi Motherboard
  • RTX 2070 Super GPU
  • Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 RAM 32GB 3200 MHz
  • Samsung 1TB 970 EVO NVMe M.2 Internal SSD
Question 2 - How is the Acer Predator X34P for productivity/gaming, in your experience or to your knowledge ?

If you've already purchased the parts, then yes, it'll be fine. If you've yet to build the system, I'd opt for the AMD route and you'll spend less overall.

Thanks ! I have not yet bought any parts, but this is the system I've planned, from my research.

Yes, I also have an alternate AMD Ryzen 7 3700x build in mind.

I am leaning more towards Intel because the following benchmarks site gives me the impression that Intel provides better performance for desktop/gaming use while AMD systems are better for workstation/server use or video-editing-type workloads that use lots of threads.

https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-9700K-vs-AMD-Ryzen-7-3700X/4030vs4043

How much attention should I pay to the above ^ benchmarks ?

The other concern I have is general compatibility/support for AMD ... what if I want to get new parts later or install Ubuntu .. will I run into any compatibility issues with AMD ?
