This week they off a free "upgrade" to LCD monitors...

problem is there is no "option" for that AND they are
charging their standard prices for the monitors!

There is an option, Patrick.

And, although it says to "Add $100," when you update the price,
the system doesn't actually add $100.

Do you *search* for mistakes, just to report them?

If that *is* the case, then it remain an error if the customer has any
confusion surrounding the discount, if not for pleasing the customer,
then at least for conducting its business well.

You're right... It's an error.

There's a completely different tone, however, in posting an "error"
vs a "screwup."

Do you consider every mistake that you make a screwup?

I certainly don't.

i think you are mistaken again. can you be more specific? the 'free flat
panel upgrade' promotion appears to be exactly as detailed in the
description on all the configuration pages for the models that i looked at
(2400, 4600, 4600c, 8300). what exactly do you think is incorrect?

Dell changed the options later in the day to what you saw. Earlier in
the day they had the monitor as a $100 upgrade like the person said
previously in the thread. It is confusing but they finally got it
right.
