Thosiba external not working

Hi, when i connect my toshiba external hard drive to my computer, the led light goes on and then off again. after that the computer does not recognize the external. pls help.

Does plugging the drive into a different usb port make any difference , also check the power connection to the drive is firm and in place

Hi, no i tried different pc's and my tv which it use to work on. i also tried a diffrent cable.
