I am currently running GTX 1070 at 1440p resolution and 144hz and it obviously lacking in performance in some heavy games. In mid august i have a friend Who is willing to buy my GTX 1070 and since there is no solid info about upcoming gpu's i am thinking about selling it to him and get 1080ti because this Will obviously boost some fps where i feel there aint enough. Am i playing it dumb right now? I am not sure i Will be able to sell 1070 for that price after New cards Come out, but I am sure that where i live 1080ti wont get any cheaper as well. And we all can only guess about New gpu pricing and performance, non-reference cards availability etc etc, New mining hysteria. Too many things Too consider.
Would you get 1080ti if you only had to add about 500 dollars after selling 1070?

I suspect the Founder's Edition launch like last time, plus $100.

So a $799 early adopter's fee, then the AIB partner launch about a month later with cards ranging from $700-800 depending on binning and cooler quality.

GTX 1080 launch was $699 with AIB cards releasing around $610 for blower style and around $650 for the overclocked cards with custom coolers. And closer to $700 again for the custom PCB and high end coolers.

Oh ok, I havent Actually mean 500 dollars as "only", ofcourse it is considerable sum.
I Just dont know when New cards Will be available, like, for real. I also have a feel that New xx70 card Will be about 1080ti in terms of performance, but I doubt it Will be priced at 500 dollars.
And if i wait for them i would rather get xx80

So August 20th is now believed to be the date of announcement of new Gpu for Nvidia. Then you will have to wait for release date. Word is that when the 1180/2080 is finally shipped the 1080/ti price will drop $100. So right now is when you will get the most money for your 1070. But the 1080ti price won't fall until the new one drops in. Also the 1180 is supposed to be 30 percent more powerful than 1080ti. Which would put it near 50 percent more powerful than the 1080! If this turns out to be true you won't be able to buy one for less than a grand in the begining.
