Well...not really a hard drive topic but since you asked...

So far so good. Normal operations are about the same. Where it really shines is when you use it for what it's designed for...games..he he.. CFS3 loves it and its RAM.

I haven't tried any overclocking and have yet to use some of the other features so I can't give a detailed review.

The card itself is pretty impressive looking with wrap around cooling fins and two fans! The bloody thing is a monster and was constantly getting in my way when I was trying to build this machine...must have removed it a half a dozen times before I was done..he he..

However, I did run across something kind of curious when I did a search for "tweaking" it. I wound up reading some customer reviews at Amazon...at least I think it was Amazon. Anyway, one guy complained that inside the front cover of the manual was a statement from PNY about respecting the authority of movie studios and recording artist to control their material. He then went on to complain that the card was giving him problems in that it was interfering with his DVD or something. Sorry I can't remember it more specifically, but I did look in my manual and couldn't find this little note he was talking about. Well...shortly after installing this hardware I decided to listen to some music I'd recorded with windows Media Player...a message popped up saying I had to have a license and that it couldn't be played. Tried playing them with a couple other programs and got the same result. Finally had to delete them and record every dang one of them over. Coincidence?...makes me wonder...

Damn. No luck finding a crack for VoptXP on KaZaA. If it aint there, it probably doesn't exist yet. I've been looking for a decent defragger ever since I upgraded to XP and norton does an even worse job than windows.

Surprising to me, I've always been happy with norton. They really screwed up on defrag this time around. It's extremely slow and has none of the options that the 95-98-me versions have. Basically everything I liked about norton defrag is absent in the XP compatible versions. I have to run windows defrag several times and then is still isn't that great. (although better than previous windows defrag)

If voptxp is as great as everyone says, I suppose its worth the $30. I'll give it a try.

kazaa is for mp3's....

Thanks 4ryan6 for the tip. You were right on the money. Excellent program. Has a few bugs but does and excellent job and has great tools and options.

I still use the FAT 32 file system under XP and I noticed that my disks get fragmented quite easily under XP in comparison to older OS's. I like the fact that this defrag doesn't stop at defraging files only but also consolidates most of the free space to prevent future fragmentation under the fat 32 system.

Another cool feature is that it not only shows you which blocks are being moved, but also shows at the same time where those blocks are being moved to.

I can see how it would cause a problem in Windows ME if it wasn't used correctly. The defrag options could cause ME to crash or freeze if they aren't set just right. So if you're running ME, first of all, my condolences. Second, you should probably do a batch defrag and use the option to restart and run the defrag before windows starts. That should work well.

I highly recommend VoptXP but you definately should read and understand the help file and set your defrag perameters for your situation. Just like any decent utility it can cause major problems if used incorrectly.

Remember that a computer will always do what it is told to do, but rarely what you want it to do. Who in the hell told Windows ME what to do? I'd like to wring those programmers necks.

Anyway, great program!

Flamey too many times I've spent my hard earned money on software that turned out to be B/S, this program is not, so just to help others I posted this, and I don't get anything from this post, but the satisfaction of knowing I'm informing people of the existance of an excellent product, that they may not be aware of. I can be a jackass at times, I'm well aware of that, sometimes the King of the jackasses, HEEEEE,HAWWWW. Later Dude.

A truely insane individual.

Man I used to love MTV, but lately its just not doing it for me anymore, I guess I'm stuck in the older rock days, I'm not a Rap fan, nothing against it, but don't prefer it, and Beavus and Butthead was the some of the stupidest waste of good music listening time, I'd seen, I mean it is a music channel right? Or at least it was, I'm a fan of groups like, Zeppelin, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Blue Oyster Cult, Edgar Winter, Foreigner, Deep Purple, Journey, Yes, Dire Straits, ELO, Jethro Tull, Lynard Skynard, Def Leopard, Uriah Heep, Iron Butterfly, Styx, Kansas, Alice Cooper, Tears for Fears, Billy Idol, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Supertramp, Cars, Pink Floyd, Eagles, Jimi Hendrix, Doors, See what I mean.

PooBah, has anyone ever told you, you look like a cross between Paul McCartney and John Lennon, in their younger and alive days of course?

I totally agree, I've really been impressed with it, I really like the way it remembers your most used programs, and optimizes the drive, to access them faster.
