I want to hear your personal experience using 4GB GTX 770's in SLI on higher than 1080 resolutions, as well as feedback on a new display for 2016. I have decided to wait another 1 to 2 years before replacing my GPUs again

Here is my rig
Motherboard : Asus Sabertooth Z87 Motherboard (Mark 1)
CPU: Intel i7-4770k @ 3.5 GHz (haven't needed to overclock it yet)
GPU's (in SLI): Gigabyte 4GB GTX 770 (Version 2 *has 2x 4pin power connectors*)
RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum 4X 8GB (32GB) DDR3 @ 1866 MHz
SSD (for boot): Samsung 256GB 850 Pro
Hard Drive: Western Digital Black 4TB, 7,200 RPM, 64MB cache
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i (Version 1)
Power Supply: Corsair AX860i 860 watt power supply

I've done quite a few searches and the information seems to be either very outdated, nor relevant to my setup, for example, I think most GTX 770's are 2GB version's but I have the 4GB version.

I have had my monitor for about 7 years and it has been very reliable. I would really like something with a better viewing angle, as I'd also like to sit back on a couch and watch from lower, which my current monitor is not capable of doing. I would like at least 27", 1440P, IPS with G Sync, and low response time. I plan on doing gaming, 4K content watching, and I do design and drafting for work.

My current monitor is Dell SP2309
Screen Size: 23"
Resolution: 2048 x 1152 (16:9 Ratio)
Refresh Rate: 60 Hz
Display Colors: 16.7 million colors
Brightness: 300 cd/m2
Contrast Ratio: 80,000:1
Response Time: 2ms
Panel: TN
Sync Technology: No
Pixel Pitch:0.249mm

I have been looking at quite a few displays recently. If I had an unlimited budget, which, I don't, I would have already run out and bought both the ACER X34 predator and the ASUS PG27AQ, even though I have heard some issues. The choice isn't between just those 2 displays, so please throw in suggestions.

I am a bit picky about aesthetics and hate how the new ASUS 34" Rog Swift looks, and that is a big reason I would lean toward the predator vs the rog swift 34", but, I also hate that huge tramp stamp on the X34. I like the ASUS PG27AQ listed below, simple and elegant.

Is a 34" 1440p ultrawide monitor less demanding then a 27" 4k 16:9? I think I could afford the PG27AQ (currently at $700), but probably not the X34 (currently at $1300.00) and be fairly satisfied with my video card performance. Obviously other monitors are suggestible as well, but I plan on using this for another 5+ years

ACER X34 Predator
Screen Size: 34" Curved
Resolution: 3440 x 1440 (2K) (21:9 Ratio)
Refresh Rate: 100 Hz
Display Colors: 1.07 Billion
Brightness: 300 cd/m2
Contrast Ratio: 100,000,000:1
Response Time: 4ms
Panel: IPS
Sync Technology: G-Sync
Pixel Pitch: 0.233mm

ASUS PG27AQ
Screen Size: 27"
Resolution: 3840 x 2160 (4K) (16:9 Ratio)
Refresh Rate: 60 Hz
Display Colors: 1.07 Billion
Brightness: 300 cd/m2
Contrast Ratio: 1,000:1
Response Time: 4ms
Panel: IPS
Sync Technology: G-Sync
Pixel Pitch: 0.155mm

So.... what higher than 1080 resolution monitor are you using with your 4GB 770 GTX's in SLI?

First, don't worry about the size of the screen. A 20" 4K has the same GPU requirements as a 80" 4K. Pixels are pixels.

4K is about 8.2 million pixels.
1440p is about 4.9 million pixels.
You currently are 2.3 million pixels.

Now ROUGHLY, if you got 100FPS now at your current resolution, then you would get about 46FPS at 2K and 28FPS at 4K.

That's give or take and some games scale better at higher resolution and some worse, but roughly unless if you are getting hundreds of FPS currently in games, you're not going to be happy at 4K that's for sure.

Great feedback, I didn't know the display size doesn't increase system demand if in the same resolution.

If I buy a 27" 16:9 4k display or a 21:9 1440p and run either at 1080p how exactly would that look vs my 23" 16:9 1080p display? I imagine it would be sharper on the 23" 1080 native display?

I don't want to just do gaming, anyone have experience watching 4k content? I imagine that wouldn't be as demanding.

In a year or two I will be upgrading my GPU (hope PCIe 4.0 comes some day...) and I would like to already have a 27"+ monitor, I can view from better angles, with better color, not just higher resolutions, even if I have to put settings lower for now.

I already see large performance gains since I picked up that 2nd GTX 770. I also play many slower paced games, which could benefit from looking better and still not be too demanding.

Thanks again and hope to hear more comments

I've seen some benchmarks that didn't look too bad, not looking for competition gameplay. Anyone have personal experience though? I wanna hear from 4gb gtx 770 SLI owners. Thanks for the information about the pixel vs size demands, I had no idea.
