Hello, just wondering what people are thinking of the new DLSS 3 frame generation on the 4090?

I've tried it on a plague tale: requiem because my CPU is bottlenecking the frames below 60fps in 4k at times even with dlss2.

I have noticed that my frame rate close to doubles and i receive a smoother image compared to the 30-50 fps frame lag.

What i have also noticed is that the input lag is virtually the same. My movements feel like im still in 30-50 fps but the frame lag is gone and less harsh on my eyes due to the stuttering.

What this tells me is that frame generation might be targeted at situations where you have sub 60 fps where the motion can be choppy and its goal is to just make the motion smoother, not faster in terms of latency.

So if you are getting the targeted frames you want, lets say 120+ fps, maybe lower due to your personal tolerance, i really don't see any reason to turn on frame generation. You may see a higher FPS number but you are essentially still playing at the fps you were before turning on frame generation, just now the image will look smoother than before with the same latency.

anyone else care to share their experience with frame generation?

My inclination is that DLSS3 FG is mostly meant for the kind of games that aren't fast paced and focus more on the image quality than zooming around and whatnot. And if a game was designed to be played at a fast pace, well, wouldn't be designed to need DLSS3 FG.

I think one good example I've seen thrown around is using it with MS Flight Simulator. The extra input lag doesn't really matter as much in the game.
