Thoughts on gtx 970 build, tell me if i needa change it

That is a great looking build. All components are high quality and compatible.

My only suggestion would be to get a 120GB SSD to install your OS on, and use the 1TB HDD for games, media, and data storage. You'll notice a huge increase in base performance if you run your OS from a SSD.

Good pick. The only things I would change are the hdd to a WD10EZEX and add a 250gb SAmsung 850 Evo if you can. In terms of motherboard I myself have picked the Asrock Z170 extreme 7+ (simply because there was a combo with it and my ram) otherwise I would have went with the ASrock Z170 Extreme 6+ (best features/price on a Z170 mobo in my opinion). The PSU is a solid choice (I myself have picked the 850w G2).
In terms of gpu I would pick the R9 390 (I have the MSI Gaming R9 390) over the gtx 970. Why? The best price/performance gpu now. Only consumes 40-60w more than a gtx 970 and it is more powerful, especially at higher resolution. Even if you have a 1080p monitor you can use virtual super resolution to play at 1440p or even 4K on some title so the extra vram will be beneficial (altough it isn't powerful enough to use 8gb of vram, it can use more than 4gb at 1080p on certain games, also no vram allocation issues like with the gtx 970).Furthermore, GCN architecture is more optimised for Directx 12 (right now) because Mantle was used for the development of DX 12 (can use asynchronous compute as opposed to Nvidia, which is not yet optimised for that). But keep in mind that there is no gpu on the market today(maybe next year) that has full DX 12 capability.
