So im looking to upgrade my pc, my cpu is long out of date and bottlenecks my gpu.. running an i5-6500
heres a link to the system builder, I already own everything other than the motherboard and gpu.. looking to stay in the $500 total range for the two, motherboard and gpu.. any thoughts or different suggestions would be appreciated!

Solution
honestly the 850w I bought on a really good sale years ago when my old psu died.. it was like $85 so I already have that, and sorry I run on 1080 resolution currently would like to eventually upgrade to 1440, and its used mostly for gaming.
im now looking at the gygabyte z490 vision g potentially instead of the msi I had linked.. and still leaning towards the i5-10600k unless someone has a different suggestion.
I'd do this: Wait until next month when Intel releases the new Rocket Lake (11th gen. cpu's) so you get native support for 3200MHz RAM, PCIe 4, and improved IPC vs the Comet Lake cpu's and boards. You can use the money saved for an SSD if you don't aready have one.

The new 11th gen boards are just starting to show up...

Is the 850w psu meant for a future video card other than the 1080 in the link, what is your monitor's resolution and what is the purpose of the pc ... gaming, editing, etc ...

Go with a B560 board in the $150 range ... I'll use this one for an example but more of these B560 boards from all board manufactures are showing up every few days now.

Here's a review of the current Comet Lake i5 10400F. Look for the Rocket Lake version of that chip i5 11400F / i5 11400 to run circles around it due to native support of 3200Mhz RAM and improved IPC.

This is the worst time I can remember to build a gaming rig due the the availability of video cards or should I say non availability. It's driving up the prices of old school video cards seeing that's about all there is to purchase atm. With that said the improvements from comet lake to rocket lake in regards to gaming can't be ignored imo.

$400 - $500 video card (RTX 3060 Ti) vs that GTX 1080.

I already own the 32g of 3200 ram, the gtx, the psu, and that cpu cooler, as well as an evo 212 so I wasnt looking to purchase those now... just showing what I have and looking for what I should do as far as mobo and cpu to upgrade. Not sure if you thought I was looking to buy all of this stuff now...

That cpu cooler won't handle the 10060K nor will the cooler I posted. That cpu eats up wattage and puts out a lot of heat.

Look for a 200 - 250w rated cpu cooler for that chip.
