Hi,

I've been working on upgrading a 9 year old HP desktop that's been working great but the performance of Premiere and After Effects now has started to suffer.

With the help of some great people here, I've ordered 16gb or ram and an 1650 with my fingers crossed that it will work for this computer/motherboard:

Current chip: Intel Core i7 2600
Current video card: AMD Radeon HD 6570
However, I just got $100 credit on my BestBuy card and I'm wondering if instead of putting the $260 toward the memory and video card, IF I can find a good deal.

What do you think about buying this Dell G5: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-g...-512gb-ssd-abyss-gray/6381625.p?skuId=6381625

For $830 I'd be getting:
  • Intel Core i5 - 9400
  • 8GB Memory - (4 slots provided)
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660
  • 512GB SSD
  • 5 USB 3 ports
It looks like for around $120 I could throw in 32gb which I'd do. From what I can gather, for video editing RAM is going to give me the most bang for my buck.

It's so hard to know if the extra $600 or so (over just upgrading the card and memory on my old computer) is worth the new machine.

Thoughts?

I really appreciate the help.
