Thoughts on this PC build $1800

Hey yall I'm just getting into the pc world. How is this build for $1800 (including keyboard mouse and monitor) ?

Is there anything I can get cheaper that won't really effect performance?
Is there anything that I should get that's a little more expensive but will increase performance?

you realize that GTX 1070 is complete overkill for this monitor ?
Unless you buy 1440p@144Hz or 3440x1440@75Hz monitor, 1060 is more rational choice.

You were looking pretty good until I got to two problems

1) No SSD. At this price point you should 100% buy a SSD. It's a world of difference.
2) Your monitor. There is absolutely no reason to get a $450 GPU with a 1080p 60Hz monitor. A GTX 970 can easily max out almost any game at 1080p with ultra settings at 60 FPS for almost $200 less.

Given the two concerns above, here would be my recommendation for a gaming box. Go for either a locked i7 and H170 setup with a stock cooler or if you want an overclocking setup go with a 6600K. Spend the extra money towards SSD and better monitor, and get a cheaper case. See below for the changes:

This GPU is still a little overkill for 1440p and 60Hz. But games will improve quickly. By dropping the CPU even lower to a i5-6500 you will take little performance hit and afford a 144Hz 1440p. Or ditch the RGB mechanical keyboard.
