[SOLVED] Threadripper 1950x temperature while gaming at 4k

Hey guys wanted to ask a question regarding TR 1950x temperature , my idle temperature is always around 40-41 where my temps while im gaming at 4k resolution hits 70 c , AMD lists 68 c as the max temp for threadripper 1950x cpu , im afraid that gaming at these temperatures for long periods would affect my cpu lifespan , are 70 c temperature while gaming safe ?!?!?!? Thanks in advance

Are not the temps often overstated (many Ryzens had a 20+ C offset, etc., but not sure about the first gen TR4 offerings) in many applications/monitoring programs to keep the fan curves ahead of the heat? (or are those legit 'actual' temps?)

By now, BIOS revisions should have fixed the temperature offset by adding an offset to compensate.

OP, what temperature monitor are you using?

Your CPU is well within spec. 68°C maximum temperature is ASSUMING an offset of 27°C as originally outlined.

If you use a recommended utility, like Ryzen master, HWinfo or Core Temp, the offset will already be factored in and you can reasonably assume a safe operating temperature maximum of 80°C. These can actually operate in a higher envelope than that, but as with most Intel core-i processor generations, Ryzen is assumed to be safer from long term thermal fatigue at temperatures of 80°C or lower. It can handle higher temps for periods of time, but I would not recommend continuously doing so.

Also, if you have not done so, it would be prudent to make sure you have the MOST recent BIOS version installed for your motherboard.
