Hello ! Our house is stone, we want one single network with several WiFi access-points. All the house has already wired network and one DIR-600. I aim to buy two more DIR-600 (very low price) as extra access-points.

After my research, has I got this right: I setup the two extra DIR-600 as Access-Points (= WAN is disabled). I connect all three DIR-600 at LAN (meaning they will work as switch-devices at LAN). I setup exactly same wireless -settings, such as protocol, security, SSID and password. But select different wireless channels for each router ?

Will then a wireless device such as iPad with the selected SSID automatically change channel into the strongest channel ?

If I've got it wrong, then what is the suggestion ?

Thank you :)

As long as the APs are connected by ethernet cables, that is pretty much it. Roaming won't be seamless as is in commercial networks, but it will work. That is, there will be times a device sticks to a weak signal rather than being transferred to a stronger one. But it works satisfactorily.

Unless you are on a strict budget, I suggest you look at AC access points instead of just 150 N for the benefits of having the 5GHz band. But if the price for the DIR600 is right for you, it should work just fine.

Thank for answer Pooneil !

Sticking to a weaker signal is not an issue unless the internet not appear to complete disappear.

Regarding AC access-point I did buy one Linksys for 170 Euro, but since it did not have better range than the DIR-600, I returned it to the shop. The DIR-600 is 15 Euro and my consideration is that three DIR-600 do better work in our house.
