Hmm... Private torrenting, well, I am sure that in the U.S.of A., you would also have many areas of wher high speed internet is NOT available. Say you have friends that are in the outback, you can not rely on 3G/4G etc or cable or xDSL since it is non existant, and also the mobile (cell) carriers here do not offer unlimited data plans. The ONLY reliable internet they have is dial-up. Yes, in this day and age, dial-up is the only option for some people, for continuous internet, and they use their "rural approved" (aka blue tick) mobile phone data for urgent and needed internet.
So are you able to find me an answer to this particular scenario? - excluding satellite internet, since that was way to expensive when it was widely available, and also had cap for data.
If you are in the city and your friends are all close, sure, you can carry a 2.5" drive with you, but when you need to mail it, would you risk a hdd or the cost of a usb stick or just a couple of bd-r's?
So, just remember, not everyone lives in large cities, or even cities, or towns. They are just starting the national broadband initiative here, to cover most rural Australia.
Your equivalant would most likely be something like in Arizona or Texas or Nevada, with very small communities or parishes.
So these are just a couple of scenarios you can look at.
